The power is in your hands
“John,” you may ask, “why would I not just search for artwork on Amazon, Etsy, or some other online marketplace? The artists are great, their work is arguably better, AND I can get it for waaaay less money.” That makes sense and I agree 100%, and I recommend that you do exactly that. My offer was not engineered to include the general public by pricing competitively. It’s an exclusive offer. Just a different approach for a different type of consumer.
If Midnight Oil was worth $50,000,000.00 in under a decade, would you consider buying it for $80,500.00 presently? Maybe ask yourself some questions about why you should value or shouldn’t value my works of art at my price point. Do you feel like you want or need them? Do they impact you emotionally? You didn’t want or need them before so why would you want or need them now?
It’s my price but it’s your choice.
The power is in your hands. My goal is to set my works apart from the competition simply by approaching the market differently. Approaching value differently. In my opinion, the value of art is subjective and determined by the utility it provides to the consumer, decided BY the consumer. I cannot presume to know what that utility could be because that is also, in my opinion, subjective, and again, decided BY the consumer. Not my decision. So I relinquish that power and control to YOU, THE CONSUMER. Everyone has the right to agree or disagree with my assessment of value but no one has the power to change it. That is the power that I have. The power of pricing. Midnight Oil is a ticket to direct association with the Artist (yours truly). Is there value in that to you, as a potential consumer? Strictly your decision. No one else’s.
